This is a Stainless Steel and Leather “Siesta” Lounge Chair, initially designed by Ingmar Relling for Westnofa in 1965. This example dates to the 1970s, and was produced in Denmark. The cushion is upholstered in a saddle brown/cognac leather with lots of slouch, and the frame is made with bent flat bar stainless steel. The underlying sling seat is made of a cream canvas that is hand-tied to the frame with leather laces. Sigurd Resell, his longtime collaborator, may have lent a hand with this steel framed version, an iteration that is far more uncommon than the oft-seen bent wood frame.
The chair measures 33.5 inches deep, 25.2 inches wide, and 31.9 inches high. There are some stains on the underlying canvas sling seat which are relatively obscured when the leather cushion is in place. The steel base has some patina and some spots. Overall, this chair is in good condition. Please see photos.
